PRESIDENT OBAMA AFRICA HERITAGE AND CULTURAL
TOUR - 4 DAYS
Day 1:Nairobi - Kisumu
Leave Nairobi to Kisumu City by early morning flight to arrive
at 8.00 am in time for lunch at this Western Kenya city that
lies on the shores of Lake Victoria. Morning tour of Kisumu
City including visits to the Museum with its wealth in archeological
artifacts, Luanda Magere Shrine with its significant folklore
in Luo Mythology, lunch is taken by the lake side and the
evening is spent watching the Golden Sunset to the sound of
music as you enjoy a drink and dinner at the Sunset Hotel
or similar. An option for accommodation in a mid budget hotel
is also available.
Day 2:Kisumu - Kogelo (Obama's
Home)
After breakfast proceed to Kogelo Village the home to President
Obama's Kenyan father which will take you an hour's drive
through rural countryside with peasant farmers on small acreage
being seen busy tending to their farms and flocks. The Kenyan
home of the President of the United State Of America, Barack
Hussein Obama is a small rural village that is rich in Luo
history and culture. Listen to the history Obama clan and
the culture of people of Kogelo. Proceed to other attractions
after lunch crossing Lake Victoria by ferry at Luanda K'otieno
to Mbita Point where the evening is spent on the grounds of
Lake Victoria Safari Village before dinner and overnight at
the lakeside hotel.

Day 3 : Mbita Point - Rusinga
Island - Mbita Point
Proceed to the shores of Lake Victoria before breakfast to
witness the activities of fishermen and lakeside communities
as the day's catch of fish is brought in. Return to the hotel
for breakfast before driving to Rusinga Island for a morning
excursion of this famed Lake Victoria island that is rich
in archeological treasures including rock paintings and diggings
of Early Man, the Homo Africanus. Rusinga Island is also the
home of Tom Joseph Mboya where his mausoleum lies on the family
land at Kamasengere Village. Tom, the then powerful Economic
and Planning minister in the government of Kenya with the
help of J.F Kennedy organized for the University Education
Scholarships and Students Airlift through Kennedy's Family
Trust of the young bright Kenyans to United States of America.
Among the first beneficiaries of this noble project was Barack
Hussein Obama Sr who went to University of Hawaii where he
met his second wife Ann Dunham the mother of President of
the United States of America President Barrack Obama. Lunch
is taken on the island and the afternoon is spent listening
to folklore, watching traditional dancers or boating. Dinner
and overnight at Lake Victoria Safari Village.

ay 4 : Mbita Point - Bar
Sauri Millennium Project - Kisumu
Depart Lake Victoria Safari Village after breakfast and proceed
by ferry across the lake with its intriguing sights before
continuing through rural countryside to Bar Sauri Village
passing through Siaya Town en route and visiting the local
market to interact with local people selling their wares in
this small rural center that also acts as the District headquarters.
Bar Sauri in Yala is one of the best examples
of how Millennium Development Goals can be achieved with concerted
effort. Over the last few years the income levels of this
peasant population has risen five-fold with falling crime
levels as people have been taught to utilize their land optimally
using the latest technology and with subsidies from the United
Nations Millennium Goals Development Project including supply
of certified seed and fertilizer. Lunch is taken in Yala after
which we continue to Kisumu Airport for our afternoon flight
back to Nairobi.
